Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Yak! I got this boat a month ago. It's my first pedal kayak and I bought it sight unseen and when it arrived I was very impressed with the way it was bud and the craftsmanship of the boat for the money. I fished this thing for 2 days on lake cachuma in California 6 hours on the water each day and it was awesome! I did buy the boondox wheels for it and that was a God send to be able to roll it down to the water great upgrade. I didn't stand up to much to fish I wasn't the confident with balance yet fishishing seated is better. You'll love this boat especially if you getting into this sport for the first time. Thanks old town! Tight lines!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great kayak for fishing I recently took delivery of my PDL. In 3 days I spent 27 hours fishing from it, in 3 different local lakes. Difrent types of weeds, different ways of accessing the water. I wanted to get a good sampling before I wrote a review. I love this kayak. The longest day way 13 hours, and the new seat design was comfortable all day. When you get into the those really weedy areas, the drive comes up, and locks positively, and the kayak paddles very well. Stability is better than I expected from a shorter kayak. It’s fast, and nimble in the water. Basically I think Old Town hit a home run with the Top Water PDL.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the new topwater PDL love the the topwater PDL !!! Been out 6 times all in Chesapeake bay area in Annapolis MD and Eastern Shores of VA. Handle rough waters well and is very stable. I'm thinking about purchasing a second one for my son, are these stackable since I won't be able to transport side by side on my truck bed?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boat! From Indiana, bought the boat in December, just got it on the water March 28. Boat tracks, paddles, pedals, fishes superbly. Seat is very comfy. Fished four hours with no fatigue. When all scuppers are plugged, I’m 250#, and it’s almost bone dry. The boat is light enough to muscle it on and off the truck without a cart, too. Can’t say enough great things about this boat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Premium Kayak at Value Price Spent about a year researching various kayaks in this domain but ended up going with the Old Town Topwater 106 PDL for a variety of reasons. The price is phenomenal and is loaded with all of the features I could want. After having it out on the water for a few months now it is the best kayak in the 10 ft class on the market--not perfect--but the best on the market. Seat is a 9/10 only complaint is the bar on the back but not a huge deal. Stability is a 9/10. Speed and agility are both 10/10. Cruising speed is about 3.1 mph. 3.5 mph is the max sustainable speed. Easy to car top, easy to store, and easy to carry. Only thing it is missing is a deck plate to replace the PDL drive when fishing shallow!!! (@OldTown) If you're on the fence about which to get, go with the Topwater.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 4 Stars due to a few Issues By now you've heard the raving reviews. I have had a few different experiences. I have taken it out 3 times, 1 freshwater, 2 saltwater bay fishing. The seat is coming apart in the corners and was frayed when it arrived. Granted its only about the size of a dime, but for the money I expected quality. I am only 195#, so it was not the weight. The drive I received did not have the gasket on the bottom. In fact I purchased window gasket material to put under it but couldn't get the contour right. It wasn't until I watched video reviews I noticed mine was missing. The color of the boreal is misleading, it is darker than represented. The stock photos online do not show the 2 front scuppers that were added. There is not a removable plate at the front of the boat, specifically where the keel makes contact with the ground. The helix 5 fish finder mounting was a task. The screws that come with it are insufficient and you have to mount it upside down and about 1 inch from being flush because it will rub. Meaning mounting it upside down. It took me 3 attempts to get it right. My foam block on the inner right came loose from the hot glue used to hold it in place in transit. Suggestions: **Make a Cart that fits this hull design. Nothing out there is adequate. I have tried everything, eventually settling for a C Tug. **Add a velcro cloth with cutouts for the seat straps that can go under the seat. I made my own. **Provide rod holder caps **Place a pad eye to secure poles at the flush mounts. I found a simple stainless one was the right dimensions to use existing holes and screws. **Add Padding to the cut of the rod holders **Add Padding to the ends of the seat bar ends to deaden/prevent the seat movement side to side. **Add a V shapped padding to the top of the drive to set a pole down easily without it falling. **I added 2 bar mounts and a 8in plastic rail and mounted my fish finder to the drive unit. VERY CONVENIENT, and out of the way of the drive, and have my gunnels for full use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! I have now had this kayak since December. I rigged it out, it is super stable. Caught some great fish with it! This kayak is everything I wanted it to be and more. The ONE thing I really hope Old Town does with this kayak though, is to add a POD like the predator has. It would create a platform for people to paddle / river fish, and also a platform to build a built in electric motor.
