Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent at best I purchased this device in April of 2017 and am on my 3rd different unit at this point. Each of the first two have had numerous issues with non-responsive touch screens and locking up. Garmin states that this isn't a problem for most, I know that is not factual and the G30 has to be giving many others problems. My 3rd unit is also locking/freezing up and will not allow me to enter scores, etc. I love the fact that this unit has great batter life and when it works, it's an excellent unit. I am getting tired of having it lock/freeze up at least 2-3 times a round and will likely send it back shortly for a full refund.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A bit touchy and no so toucy I bought this two weeks ago, I played 6 rounds with it. It had me so aggravated by the touch screen and responsiveness, I had to keep reminding myself how much I payed for it and too much to throw it in the pond.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A waste of money I bought the G30 product based on the perceived reputation of Garmin. It turned out to be a very poor product. I only had it for less than 2 months. First, it was very inaccurate in distances. Many times i would stand at known yardage markers, say 100 yd marker. My device would say maybe 114 while my playing partners would say 100 or may 101. And, the device was typically reading 4-8 yds too long. This happened at 5 different courses. Next, if I started on the back 9, at #10, the device got confused and i had to reset it at each hole. This was tiresome. But, worst of all, the belt clip was poorly designed. The device kept falling off the clip. Three times it fell off and I was able to back track and find it on the course. But the last time It fell off, I could not find it and I lost it. In a way, I was happy that I lost it because it will force me to buy a differnt brand. I had this device for barely 2 months. It was a waste of $200+. I am now very hesitent to purchase any other Garmin product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Nice and Small Unit The documentation for the unit doesn't cover all the features of the unit. There is an option for Stat Tracking that is not explained anywhere. But turning it on is a must if you want to track putts. The unit does what I was hoping for in that it would allow me to offload my scores for use in another application. This does it nicely has it tracks putts, start time, and finish time. It also does a nice job of showing the course and yards to different areas. The down side to the unit is its very small and seeing the screen for people that have poor eye site may have a problem with it. You can select to show large numbers which is a nice option. The other down side its it powers on to easily. Once powered on the unit does not shutdown and when you go to use it, it is dead. You only need to touch the power button and the unit turns on. It would be nice if the clip unit covered the power button so that when you put it away in your bag that it does get turned on by accident. My wife has another brand that if it doesn't move after 15 minutes it shuts itself down. It does however have a locking feature while using it on a round that you can quickly lock and unlock the screen to prevent screen changes in your pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for beginner golfers Took this out for a quick round last weekend, worked just fine, met my basic needs. I've tried smartphone apps but couldn't see the screen in bright sunlight; in contrast, this unit's display is still readable. It's easy to use, relatively intuitive, boots up and finds satellites pretty quickly. Screen resolution is sufficient. It's unobtrusive, didn't bother me whether I carried it in my pocket, stuck it on my push cart, or clipped it into my waistband. You can leave the unit on during the whole round so that the info is always displayed; if you use the belt clip and the slide the unit with screen down, you don't even need to lock the screen. The waistband/belt clip has good retention hold on the unit. It doesn't track shots, but at least it has a measurement function if you want to measure a good drive. Hole auto-advance function is nice, it automatically prompts you to enter a score as you move to the next hole. If you just want quick at-a-glance info, want a decent idea of yardage, and don't want to waste too much time on the course fiddling around with phones or laser rangefinders, give this unit a go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great GPS I tried all kinds of golf apps on my iPhone and iWatch and they all stink. this thing works great. I just wish they had a mount for my push cart.
