Rated 2 out of 5 by from DISAPPOINTING First off,, I would have liked a one piece cook top, but the one offered will not let the top close and lock for transport/storage. (See other reviews.) Cast iron vs. the original (aluminum?) alloy was thought to be a great replacement. Until they arrived and were found to be "cheep Chinese" with a funky, supposed to be 'enameled', coating which looks to be problematic. Have to use soft synthetic spatulas not to chip/scratch it? And who knows what 'chemistry' . . . . . Why not just plain old cast iron that you steel wool smooth, wire brush scour, and oil season - a REAL grill ?? This original "Road Trip" grill has served well and faithful over the years with reasonable care and cleaning. It's great to be able to get replacement parts. But, 'improved' is not always a good thing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not an Improvement over the Original! I recently discovered, to my dismay, that Coleman no longer offers the original grate for the RoadTrip Grill. I had ordered a grate as an addition to my grill and thought they had made a mistake and sent me the wrong one when I opened the package. Research revealed that this was their new and improved style, so I figured I had no choice. It didn't take long to see that is was NOT an improvement. The original grate is lightweight with a smooth, non-stick surface that is easy to clean and heats quickly. The new model is an 8 1/2 pound monster with a rough surface that everything sticks to and takes a lot of effort to clean. I have made a point to never grill fish on that one again as it requires a flexible metal spatula to rescue a filet from it. How Coleman thought it would be an improvement to make a heavier grate for a grill that is supposed to be portable is beyond me. I hate the stupid thing and it will probably last forever.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks The vent holes around the edge in this griddle render it useless. A major part of griddle is the edge you can push the food against to pick it up. Everything just fall threw the holes around the edge. Might as well just use the regular grill. This one is a heavy cast iron. They make one that covers both halves that is lighter aluminum. Both have non-stick surfaces of different types. The large one is higher and you cannot close lid. The large one does not have holes but the edge is very small. Some what better but still does not make the grade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Swaptop is what you need for a Tailgate. We are big Redskins Tailgaters and I needed a grill to be able to cook breakfast on like my old worn out Fire and Ice. The Coleman Road Trip more than fit the bill. It has set the standard in flexibility. The Swaptop allows you to griddle, like cook bacon, eggs, and later Swap back to start grilling. Great breakfast before the game, burgers after. Thanks Coleman for the Swaptop system. It works for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Everything sticks. Everything sticks to the porcelain. It's also fairly hard to clean compared to a teflon-coated type which I have on my older Coleman stove Coleman recently came out with a cast aluminum Teflon coated pan that covers both sides. I am hoping they will come out with a half size one that covers just the one side.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not the same, but okay Too bad Coleman "improved" this item, as the grate that came with the grill is so superior to this. It arrived quickly and damage-free, but has a bit different design than the original and isn't as easy to clean.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Expensive Coleman charges too much for replacement grill grates. Coleman knows you need them, so they overcharge you. These grill grates are almost impossible to clean!
